This weekend i.e the first weekend of July 2022 was supposed to be a very artistic and cultural one in Berlin. 2nd July was "The long night of science" and 3rd July being the Free Museum Sunday aka Museums Sonntag. Looking at all the exhibitions, events, tours, concerts and workshops that are happening this weekend; I am sure that the city would have been pulsating with a lot of energy.

On such days, I feel Berlin comes alive in a very different manner. There is something for everyone's interest. People here really enjoy these eventful days as food for their souls and don't see them as boring academic activities. It is on days like these that I have found the city to often come alive with everyone participating irrespective of their age/gender/nationality/religion/interests. I feel so inspired when I see much elder people also visiting these events and sharing their life experiences during the guided tours. Or when I come across people from many different countries and professional backgrounds for that brief span of time. It is also on days like these wherein I get the sense that I am also somewhere a part of this urban environment and not just roaming around in a touristy manner. It makes me feel comfortable to talk to strangers who are also participating in these innumerable activities. Overall, it feels a little at home. I still remember the countless random smiles I got on the S-Bahn when I was returning from the Creative Bureaucracy festival with its event tote bag:P It's on days like these that I naturally feel confident to move around and speak to people in this very different environment compared to back in India.
I had my entire itinerary planned out as I had been looking forward to this particular weekend for the last two months. Although I am a little sad that I couldn't go through with the plan - I am finding positivity in telling myself how much I discovered just by exploring the innumerable events happening through the museum websites.

In this blog, I intend to share a few glimpses of the same. To organise the insane number of exhibitions and events - I will categorise it into the following : ( of course some categories also merge )
a) Architecture/Design/Urbanism
b) Art
c) Music
d) Science (both soft sciences and hard sciences)
e) Communication
f) Technology
g) Politics
h) History ( also Natural history )
i) Religion
j) Photography and Films
h) Fashion
i) Sports
j) Space/Cosmos

Also, please note that the links shared herewith are non-exhaustive. I think for the coming few months alone there are more than 300 events taking place; however, the ones listed here are primarily what caught my eye. This list does not even include the usual renowned museums such as the Bode Museum, the Jewish Museum, the Neue Nationalgalerie, etc.
Lastly, the intent of this list is not to project itself as a guide but rather to just literally show how expansive the museum and gallery culture is in Berlin. One can actually very easily create their own lists upon going to the Museum Portal website. So now I will start with the very first category which is very close to my heart :P
